About This Spot

Perched on the second floor of a historic Scottsdale golf club, The Phoenician Tavern arrives as a quietly confident spot where the pace slows just enough to soak in both the view and the moment. Whether you find yourself nestled inside the long, intimate dining room or outside on the modest patio, there’s an easygoing yet refined energy that hints at well-traveled charm without pretense.

The atmosphere carries the light warmth of a neighborhood hideaway, elevated by the gentle backdrop of manicured greens stretching beyond the windows. It’s the kind of place where friendly service feels personal, and every visit invites a blending of familiar comforts with small, thoughtful surprises.

On the menu, you’ll find a conversation between classic American tavern fare and attentive craftsmanship — dishes like a thoughtfully stacked Wagyu Pastrami Sandwich or the rich indulgence of stout-braised short ribs echoing the spirit of elevated comfort food without overshadowing the simplicity of good ingredients. The cocktails, carefully curated and vividly balanced, provide their own kind of local storytelling, from bright, herb-kissed sips to smoky mezcal notes that linger thoughtfully.

Gathering here spans casual gatherings and quiet moments alike, with shared plates encouraging a slow unraveling of flavors alongside good company. The culinary rhythm is complemented by an attentive pace of service that feels like a nod to the attentive care Scottsdale is known for, making it a welcome landing spot after a day on the links or an afternoon at the spa.

More than just a restaurant, The Phoenician Tavern holds the warmth of a place discovered—not just visited—where the intersection of place, palate, and people comes through in the details: from a lively conversation over dotted tables to the quieter pleasure of watching the sunset reflect off the well-kept fairways beyond.

The Tavern is near the spa on the opposite side of the pool from the main building. It is on the 2nd floor of the golf club. The place has a small patio and a huge dining room narrow and very long. They have many beers on tap and many food option including a limited happy hour many from 3 to 6pm. The service is very friendly, prompt and efficient and the food was tasty (the photos include 2 kids meals as well as regular dishes). They were very accommodating about allergy safe food. There are many TV screens all over playing ball games.

This restaurant is absolutely beautiful and classy. We basically just ordered a bunch of appetizers and shared them. The artichoke dip, pull-apart pretzels, duck fat Parmesan fries, and pork belly fried rice were all immaculate. The wings however left much to be desired. The tavern style is flavorless, and the buffalo was extremely acidic and burned my eyes even just getting close to them. Our server was nice, but not very attentive. Took a while to notice my empty drink and get me a refill. Bathrooms were very nice and clean as well. Overall a 4star visit.

I got the chicken club sandwich and it was mediocre—not bad, not great. Everything else was fantastic—drinks, views, and service was phenomenal. Brittany was a great server and super friendly. Overlooking the famous golf course was awesome. Would come back but would try different food. It’s pricey, but so is everything at a resort.

I had the pleasure of dining at The Phoenician Tavern on Sunday, March 16, after church services with a friend and colleague. From the moment I entered the resort, I was captivated by the beautifully maintained grounds, the scenic drive past the golf course, and the inviting atmosphere of the tavern itself. The food was outstanding—absolutely 5-star worthy! The tavern burger was hands down the best burger I’ve had in a long time. The service was just as impressive, with a special shout-out to Daniel for his exceptional hospitality. The ambiance was lively and enjoyable, especially with the indoor-outdoor bar patio offering stunning views of the golf course. While the atmosphere was great, I’m giving it 4 stars simply because I expected a bit more of a refined resort feel. That said, I was pleasantly surprised by the unique offerings, including the St. Patrick’s Day menu, craft beer sampling, dueling pianos every Saturday, and bourbon tastings (reservations required). The Phoenician Tavern is a fantastic place to unwind, whether you’re knocking back a local craft beer, enjoying pub-style fare, or just soaking in the beautiful setting. It’s a hidden gem within a luxury resort that doesn’t feel overly formal—perfect for a laid-back yet elevated experience. I’ll definitely be back! ⭐ Food: 5/5 ⭐ Service: 5/5 (Thank you, Daniel!) ⭐ Atmosphere: 4/5

I just traveled from Illinois and was referred to come to the tavern for a light meal and beverage. Jared was my server and he was very good and attentive. I had the wings and a blooming pretzel. He also suggested a local light beer which was very refreshing. Everything was prepared well and had great flavor. The wings were nice and crispy and tasty. I have never had a blooming pretzel. It was served in a cast-iron skillet and you essentially pulled it apart and dipped it in warm cheese. It was unique and very good! It could definitely be shared. I could not eat it all. I would highly recommend this place for socializing and all the food on the menu looked very good.

The service is a bit slow, but the food was good. Pork Chop not too dry. Burger was juicy. The tater tots were too dry though
